Ok people let me share some knowlege with everyone. I work out at Phx Mesa Gateway Airport where I handle and fuel aircraft. ALL unleaded and ALL diesel fuel are the SAME at gas stations. Now under a govt mandate fuel companies have to put in a fuel detergent into their fuel. I.E. Mobile uses Techron , Shell uses something called " V power". All this stuff is is a detergent/fuel cleaner that every gas station must use. Most people think that if a gas station has the cheapest fuel it must be watered down. Fuel and water just don't mix. And from the fuel delivery guy at work, what happens is a corporation will drill for the oil, then the barrels are  sold off to countrys. Then each country will refine a barrel of oil into fuel, from there we have fuel farms all over the country which is owned by some corporations like B.P. which sells the fuel to corporations like Shell, Fry's, Circle K. Now some gas stations will have the cheapest gas because they bid for the fuel in quantaties.  So if Shell says they will buy 8,000 gallons of unleaded fuel and won't buy another truck load for 2 months will have to charge higher then circle k who might buy 8,000 gallons every 1 1/2 months.  But I have to laugh when I see vehicles fueling up at the Shell gas station paying $0.15 more than the person at Fry's or at the Express stop. All fuel comes from the same fuel depot station ,, each gas station has to place a fuel detergent/additive in the fuel mandated by the Govt. And some gas station corporations use some nice spiffy terms to make the consumer think they are getting a better fuel for their vehicle.

This is somewhat true.

"Dirty Gas" is stored near where the ships come in. They drail all diesel fuel first. Why, the acticle didn't say. Then they clean the pipes. Then move the regular gas. The first 250-500 gallons of gas that come out are considered "dirty". Top teir places such as QT, Chevron, SHell ect WILL NOT touch the fuel. That fuel is sold to such places at Frys, Safeway, Costco.

This was an article my friends dad passed to me after he replaced his fuel pump in his truck 3 times since moving to Maricopa in 2006. He gets gas at the Circle K now.

If you drive a high performance car, or live your car, rather than just seeing it as a car.. you can FEEL the difference in performance.

Gee, I have been over at the tank farm in Phoenix and in fact back in the 60's when my dad did construction he built a very large warehouse there which he took me to while building and I did not see any ship yards any where near there. I run Fry's gas in my bike because it runs better on that gas then Circle-K gas. I could go on explaining all about the oil companies and how they buy and sell gas because my dad worked for Enco/Exxon for almost 20 years but I don't think any one here is that open minded to listen.

thats not totally true. It depends on where that costco or frys is getting the gas..When im at my house in cave creek i fill up at the costco on cave creek and the 101 since they get theres from phoenix fuels. phoenix fuels gets there gas from a top tier gas farm. Ive also seen some frys do the same thing you just have to watch for the trucks and see who they are and you can go up and ask the truck drivers there more then happy to tell you which farm they got the gas from. They will usually talk your ear off as well. I also used to work on supertankers and from what im hearing your saying the gas is comming off this ship? The ships carry crude oil and then deliver it to the refinerys which then usually truck or rail everything out. they dont carry gas..

Good point Jeep! I tried to find that article but it was like a year or so ago. I must have meant from the refins to the trucks.

I'd love to hear what you have to say sysadmin.

I wish Mythbusters would do a test.

I know my 2005 Chevy truck I used to race was faster with Chevron gas. I used to get that only. But my friend borrowed it and filled it up at AM/PM. Ran like crap.

Man, It was 1.29 for a gallon of gas back then.
