People are funny on this board.Crime ridden apartments arent new. They are older complexs.Apartments would be good for the city they would provide cheeper housing which brings more people, which brings more taxes for the city, and attracts more business to the city.If people can only afford 500-600 for rent, they wont rent a 800 dollar house. So they wont move here.If we dont have a larger population, why would large manufacturing companies want to come here?
Or lets just keep things the way they are so only people who make 40k a year and up can live here.

Manufacturing??? Better go to a foreign country for those jobs.

Hmmm I lived in apartments while in college and my first year of marriage. Never whored, cracked, or methed. Studied and worked while living in a affordable area as I could not qualify to buy a home, nor did I want to be responsible for the landscaping of one. Look in North Chandler, and see plenty of beautiful appartments. Once all the retail outlets come, theaters, and other places where folks will not make enuough to own.. but may want to live and work out here, these "cabrini greens" will be required or this forum will be full of folks complaining about lack of customer service... as no worker will be able to afford to live out here and serve the Elite. And besides, who would want to drive out here for a job like that!!! dufus brains!

I was being sarcastic in my last post. I think apartments would be fine and they dont mean scum will move in.I dont like the elitist attitude people have here.

Elitists are funny. If they really were elite, they wouldn't be moving here. I don't know about you guys, but we moved out here because it was affordable. Little did we know, the backwards mentality of some here...

News flash or is it............Someone I know sits in on the city planning board meetings and informed me that the indian's have traded some land along the 347 between Riggs and Rancho. There are future plans for hotels, apts. and condo's along there not to mention a light rail. Has anyone else heard of this?

Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

If they build apartments here, they might as well call them Cabrini Green.

Or, we may as well call you an idiot.

Wow, Drummer72, how articulate. Are you 9 years old? Or just not smart enough to fomulate an actual response?

It took you 5 days to come up with that conclusion.? I can formaldulate many questions. I simply disagree with your silly A$$ comment about  Cabrini Green. I used to live 10 minutes away by bike. It's not that bad...

No, it took me 5 seconds. Sorry I do not come on here every day waiting with bated breath for what drummer72 is going to say next!

And are your really trying to argue that the failed Cabrini Green project was not one of the most dangerous places in Chicago? REALLY?

Cabrini Green turned for the better, because they had a great community organizer.

You mean when the federal government came in and took almost all the buildings to the ground? And left one up, for the gangs and drug dealers to stay in for free (thank you, community organizer!) until the new buildings had been built?

I agree that apartments will be needed, but not now. However, that doesn't mean the city shouldn't be zoning for it now, that way there is a few locations that will be near the 'prime' sections to attract people to them easier when they are built. Also to the person who laughed at manufacturing, phoenix has a ton of it here. Honeywell, Orbital, Intel, Motorola, Microchip.... list goes on and on. Casa Grande has a Lay's factory... no reason 'Copa couldn't get something similar here (and much needed).
