Alert | On Thursday about 1:30pm a Black & White cop car doing 85+ was weaving in and out of traffic with out useing a turn signal and endangering other motorists on hyw 347 turns out, it is a Arizona State Capitol police car. After he blew by me and countless other motorists I eventually found him pulled into the Arby's drive thru. I took out my phone camera and took snap shots of his license plate and his badge. After that he asked for my drivers license and I called the Maricopa Police dept to file a complaint. Well it worked cause the Az state Capitol Police Commander called me today and he wants to send out a Sergent to take my statement. They are doing a formal investigation on this deputy. If anyone else would like to give a statement to this Sergent please send me a pm. He will be back in contact with me on Tuesday.

Alert | Good for you. Too many people just compain about things. Very few actually do the follow through required to fix issues.
I remember reporting a Santa Monica cop that felt it was OK to park in a handicap zone near a major hospital, in front of a drug store in the handicap space while he ate lunch. His watch commander was less than thrilled with him.
That is what it takes, sometimes.

Alert | | Great job with the follow through!!! We have seen this guy before driving erratically, excessive speed, flashing his lights unnecessarily...what a piece of work that guy is. Kudos to you for taking the initiative!

Alert | | Now to just get the MPD cops that do this and especially the ones who speed down by the highschool going 65+ when it's a 25 mph zone. I am thinking of joining the MPD so I can speed without just cause. Good job Protofish, I hope they put this story on the news so this issue gets resolved.

Alert | | Keep the comments coming. I sent a complaint to the Major regarding the MPD and have a meeting with a lieutenant next week. I will make sure he is aware of any comments posted. One of my many issues was the MPD speeding thru the school zone. Between the crime and irresponsible police in this town, no wonder why everyone wants to bail on their homes to get the hell out of dodge.

Alert | Protofish, please update us as this develops.
When I mentioned this post to my husband, he mentioned that he's seen a State Capitol police car being driven erratically. Unfortunately, he does not have the dates and times for these incidents.
Thank you for following through and calling this person's superior.

Alert | Well I had the Sergent contact me over the phone, and he took down my statement. I also told him about 85239.com and that there was more complaints about other AZ State Capitol Police cars driveing eratically thru or to our city. I asked him if I would be able to find out what the results were to their findings and all he said was this could take awhile. So I am not to sure if he was blowing smoke up my butt but oh well. At least I got some peoples attention to a problem that was going un announced.

Alert | | Why are the vehicles here? Are the drivers/officers residents of Maricopa? Whose dime are they using to commute to Phoenix and back everyday, if that's where they belong?

Alert | Word has it that they got hired to do a security detail somewhere along hwy 238. I don't believe they are sworn Law Enforcement officers like most cities have. They do have to take the AZPOST exam, but they are considered a security detail unit.

They're doing security at the tire recycling facility in Mobile so we don't end up with the LARGEST environmental fiasco in the state.

They are sworn law enforcement in the state of Arizona, just like any other peace officer.

Alert | Is is so funny how ignorant you people sound when complaining about law enforcement. I bet none of you would be complaining if they were speeding to a call for service that had a direct impact on you or someone you know. For example you pull up to your home and notice the door open and movement inside your going to call 911 and expect the police to be there before you hang up the phone...but god forbid they speed to get to that call. Think about it people there are here to keep the community safe.
And Protofish...think about what you did to tail these officers and then to pull over with them in the parking lot...you are very lucky they didn't shoot you. Cause I know if that was me that you followed I would have been on edge. What you left out of the post was that YOU were the one weaving in and out of traffic to follow these officers. And you also left out the part where the officer was being past by a number of other drivers. But since you were so focused on following (tailgating) this car you would not have noticed that. The officers car never went higher then 80 mph...the reason they were being pasted on the hwy since you people like to drive a min. of 90 mph.
Also these are actual police officers that could have and should have arrested your butt for aggressive driving. So they are no "rent-a-cop" RayDizzle34. Do your homework before you post.
You really have no idea what police officers go through. They put their lives on the line every time they put on that uniform. Think about what these officers can loose...they have families too.
Before you point at the bad in people who should really look at your own actions.

Spoken like a true officer. None of what you say justifys speeding over 85 (criminal speeding) and weaving down the 347 to get to Arbys. Police officers should be better drivers and lead by example. It sounds like this officer thought he was above the law.

Why do I get the feeling that you are the rent-a-cop that RayDizzle34 caught...

If officers are driving like this down the 347 it sounds like I am putting my life on the line when I go to work. If they are afraid to lose their lives they should work behind a desk or at least drive safely.
Before you point at the bad in people who should really look at your own actions.
Again no justification. Police have to follow rules too and are not above the law. If citizens don't watch the police then who will?

Actually "caveman" I am not a police officer but I have many friends that are. And you are not to bright when it comes to reading are you... I said and I qote, "The officers car never went higher then 80 mph." It is all you other people that speed higher then 85-90 mph. They are not above the law but to have to uphold it.
[Why do I get the feeling that you are the rent-a-cop that RayDizzle34 caught...]
Smart guy that was a comment that RayDizzle34 made. You guys think you are so cool for "catching" these guys. When it only shows that you people of Maricopa have nothing better to do then complain. I am a resident of Maricopa and absolutely love it here there are just a few things I would change, like the constant complaining out of you and many others. If you don't like it here so much then leave no one forced you to move here in the first place.
[If officers are driving like this down the 347 it sounds like I am putting my life on the line when I go to work. If they are afraid to lose their lives they should work behind a desk or at least drive safely.]
Not all officers drive like this. You are trying to make it sound like cops are the worst thing on the road. When in reality its some of you that post here on this very forum. I never said they are afraid to lose their lives but that they put them on the line on and off duty. You just have no idea what kind of scrum they actually have to deal with...drug dealers, gangs, murders, the list goes on...you should try a ride along some time. The time it takes them to enter just one ticket is not worth the time it took to write it. And these aren't desk type people, they actually like their jobs.
[Again no justification. Police have to follow rules too and are not above the law. If citizens don't watch the police then who will?]
The justification is that this officer never broke the law. If the citizens have nothing better to do then I guess they have a 2nd job...if they even have a 1st.

Alert | Gee Ana R. I guess you are correct. Cops are above the law and should be able to speed to Arby's for a snack. After all, laws don't apply to those enforcing the law.
What a crock.
Does anyone posting here remember a police officer that was speeding home after a shift on the 347 and lost control, became airborn and killed people coming the opposite direction? This was about 1 year ago. (Memories are very short sometimes.)
Laws do apply and that includes the laws of physics. Speeding costs lives, like it or not, the facts hold true.
The officer involved was estimated to have been going 111MPH.
