Excuse me while I laugh my ass off! Don't think for one second I believe that you don't speed even if it's unintentional. 26 when it's 25...36 when it's 35; you get my drift. Just accelerating a little bit over means your speeding. Get off it....we've all been there.
Do I think cops should be flying though town at 80 MPH? No...but if all "concerned citizens" worried about their OWN driving as much as they did the MPD or anyone else for that matter....they would be better off.
OMG, do you make BS arguments for a living, or did you just 'get lucky' with this one? I KNOW that MCPD is ALWAYS looking to pad the city budget with speeding fines, I'd be willing to bet they have a quota for tickets, God KNOWS they're out there writing them 24/7.
With this knowledge, I MAKE SURE that I am not in violation of the speed limit by even 1 MPH. Cruise control is a WONDERFUL thing, although I'm sure many of you HATE me on 347 at 5:30 AM. I keep it at 55-60, it improves my gas mileage. Anyway, pissedparent, you sound a little bit stressed, and also like you might BE, or are married to, an MCPD officer. It may even have been you or your SO that the OP was complaining about. Get this through your head, police officers are NOT above the law, they are the SERVANTS to it. It seems a little skewed to expect respect for the law when the enforcers of the law HAVE NONE, don't you think? Chances are I've just put myself on the MCPD 'hit list' with this post, but that's just the way the ball bounces. I'll be sure to post my next 'harrassment' episode as soon as it happens... | | "The seeds of self-destruction are sown in the shallowness of your mind."

Alert | I'm not stressed, nor am I married to a police officer nor do I begrudge anyone who wants to go below the speed limit...AS LONG AS THEY ARE IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. But anyone who said they NEVER speed is full of beans and everyone knows it.
If anyone has ever got a ticket for speeding...had it coming...period! Same as if they rolled through a stop sign or didn't use a turn signal or a million other things AZ drivers forget to do...

As I have said time and time again, no one know what was going on in the cop's car and for the OP to assume they knew was asinine. Worry about your OWN driving and not anyone else's and we will ALL be safer. Put the make-up on at home, stop texting, if you want to talk use a hands-fee device, light your cigs while you are stopped, eat while you are sitting at the restaurant not in the car with your forearms....have I covered it? No wonder cops are busy writing tickets. And before you jump all over me no, I don't do any of those things.

Actually pissedparent, I don't speed. I always have my cruise control set to exactly or less than the speed limit. Even I had to laugh at that one, we all speed from time to time. CC cannot be set all the time especially in town.

Newsflash: If no one was speeding there would be no tickets written!

Who pissed in pissedparents cherrios??
My aunt was t-boned head on by a cop in CA. She was making a left turn on a green arrow, and he ran it. Turns out he had no call, and he was on his way back to the station. So I don't wanna hear the BS about cops having a hard job and all that. Cops break the law MORE than we do because they can get away with it. Once in awhile you'll get a cop who doesn't have his head up his butt with power, but it's pretty rare.
So he made a mistake and had an accident...OMG! Like I said - I cut them slack because I need them far more then they need me.
Made a mistake? Going 50 in a 35 is a mistake? No, it's pure carelessness and no regard for whats around you. If that's the case, then all the speeders on the 347 are making mistakes and the cops should cut them some slack. kthanxbyewhatev. =) | | A word to the wise ain't necessary -- it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

You didn't say he was speeding, you said he HE RAN A RED LIGHT. You can do that going the proper speed limit. Your whole story is now suspect. Go play.
If that's the case, then all the speeders on the 347 are making mistakes and the cops should cut them some slack.
DING DING DING Tell her what she has won Bob!
The cops cut EVERY driver who speeds on 347 slack by not writing them a ticket.

Alert | | Oh my whole story is suspect? Well sorry but my aunt not being able to walk right, and not being able to write with her right hand is not suspect. He was speeding. Thought that was obvious since he was going fast enough to not be able to stop. Even if he wasn't speeding, then he definately wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. Either way, he was in the wrong. That's my whole point. So whatever, think what you want. | | A word to the wise ain't necessary -- it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

Not to come to his defense but, how do you know he was not attempting to back up a call and was no longer needed and was called off and that was why he sped past you and then stopped at the next few lights. You never know.
Colgate- I completely agree with you on this. I have many good friends of mine are police/sheriff and I have done many ride along's myself. I can't tell you how many times I have witness/participated in the above. Every call they go to is important and they need to get there ASAP to get it done and move on to the next call.
I also agree with many of the other comments. for example, people need to worry about their own driving. it is not only the speeding that we all need to be worried about it is the stupid drivers that are text messaging, or talking on the phone. I am not saying that I don't do these things, all I am saying is that if you are going to say something about someone else then you need to think about yourself first. I am not saying this officer was in the wrong or in the right, just saying that before everyone thinks about bashing peace officers, they should first think about the job they do (putting their lives on the line). Also not to take another way from anyone's else job, (ER nurse) but not many people can say that they run to a shots fired call , many say I heard it or I am not going over there. I agree; great response. Before people go on bashing what they may not competely understand, maybe they should ask questions to somebody who knows (like call the non emergency number, ask an officer, etc). Or, better yet, go on a ride along. I think people would get a better idea of what can happen and what should not happen. Not all calls require lights and sirens. Just because a cop is speeding does not mean he/she is a crooked cop.
