NO REPAIR You just replace it, cost about $100. Easy to do.
Make sure what your problem is: Do you have water to the maker, check.
There is a water valve electrically operated at bottom of back of fridge, coil burns out, that is most common failure

Also make sure it's not iced over (the rotating mechanism, the on/off bar, and the water spigot. Those are usually the most common issues with them...

No ... reina ... it is a GE.  This is the second time we have had this problem.  Last time it was under warranty. 

Have tried defrosting the coil and stil nothing.  Next, I will check the coil at the bottom of the refrigerator.  How can you tell if it is burned out>

And, maybe, another dumb question ... if we are able to access water for drinking does that mean that water is going to the ice maker or is that separate?
