We have a   person cutting through our yard and messing with our lawn timer.  If you live on Elizabeth or Blazen Trail in the 43000 block  BE AWARE Foot prints,  about size10,  are left in the soft ground when the sprinklers turn on. Check if your teenager or spouse is sneaking out or in in the early morning.  Possibly it is a thief checking doors or  a peeping Tom. .We are taking steps to keep this person out of our yard. When it is cooler the dog will be out and she is very protective of what she owns, we call her the fur coated razor blade. This has cost us our green lawn as we did not notice the sprinklers were not running until too late to save the grass. So the short cut is closed.

Unfortunately, you are not alone...if you can lock your irrigation box do so...I've also noticed construction workers in new build areas going to homes and helping themselves to your water..Ace sells locks for your hose bib...I have put them on most of my out of town customers spigots...same thing with your electric panel box..anyone can just come by and flip off your power...

Does anyone have any idea why the houses are built with the electrical box and sprinkler contriols on the outside of the houses? Why not on the inside of the garage where no one could get to them unless you had access to the garage?

Fry's Electronics sells cameras you can put on the exterior of your house to record what goes on.

I dont understand why they do not put them in the garage either. I'm from Cali and I have never seen a sprinkler box on the outside till I moved here. In Cali they are all in the garage. I think eventually I will have mine moved into the garage.

I am thinking the same thing to, and also for the electric box. It would be just great if you have to reset a breaker at night in the rain and you have to go outside and around the house to get to the panel box. Also I wonder after time how long the boxes will last. I know we don't get a lot of rain here in AZ but I can't imagine that can be very good for that type of equipment.

I am from PA and never saw that either until I moved here. Ususally they are in a basement or behind a door in an utility room...

Its arizona, do you really think there going to build a house worth two craps? if you want it done right build it yourself it seems is the motto of this place. Although having your service entrance section outside is no big deal. Ive had them mounted outside on many places in michigan. usually out here your only problem will be jose illegal who decides he needs more money to get his buddys across and figures the copper in your box looks like a good start. Also the wires can become oxidized but only if ED3 or who ever they contracted to pull the wire forgot to put on anti oxidization grease.

Thanks a lot. I haven't thought about punji sticks for 40 years. Now you have to bring them up.
