07/28/2008 8:51 AM Alert

Maricopa Neighbors,

I'd like to ask a favor.  My daughter was born on 6/28/08 with a birth defect which necessatated surgery when she was two days old.  She then stayed in the NICU for three weeks because she was under narcotic pain medication, on a respirator and getting nutrition through an IV.  We thankfully have her home now but have already received bills from the hospital she was born in, the air vac team, and the hospital she was transported to.  My family has decided to sell as much funiture, clothes, toys and tools to raise money to cover some of the expenses. The fundraiser-yardsale will take place on August 2nd-3rd (Saturday and Sunday) in Glennwilde at the Taylor-Morrison subdivision.

Please stop by and help out a neighbor in need!

Thank you,

Lisa B

Would you be willing to accept other people's items to sell at your garage sell & you could keep the profits? (Quality items, not junk.)

Are you working with the hospitals? Some have a charity fund for situations like yours. Also, if she has a long term problem, the state may be able to help.

My heart goes out to you.

A freind of mine had brain surgery and was in ICU for 26 days.  His out of pocket was $250 and his total bill was $720,000,  that included the $17,000 helicopter ride.

Hospital costs are nuts.

Holy Crap! That's worse than my hernia operation I had a long time ago with no insurance. That was fun.

Multilpe surgeries and and a private ICU room for all 26 days.  I think just the room was a few thousand a day.

Rich,
My cousin had a brain tumor too and was also in the ICU for over a month. I saw some of the bills that came in and they were crazy.

Did you really give birth to a Jetta or do you work at the VW Proving Grounds?
