Hi, my nine year old has had a few riding lessons in phoenix and we are looking for someone locally in maricopa that she can continue with. She would love to help with grooming also. Any ideas from anyone would be great thanks

Kit Townsend of Coyote Cove Training Center is good and reasonable. Email her at coyote_cove@yahoo.com . She trains out of a ranch in south Hidden Valley. She trains English and Western. She also judges open horse shows. She just judged the benefit show for Equine Eden Horse Rescue this weekend.

Thank you for this information. I too have been looking for riding lessons. I have emailed the person listed here. Are there any other persons that have nice barns around? My daughters are aching to learn. Thanks!

If you don't mind the drive to Casa Grande, I can recommend an awesome trainer. She has years of experience teaching adults and junior riders. Group lessons are held several days a week and she also does private lessons. Her prices are very reasonable.

If interested, PM me for more info.

I just did a search for this. I was wondering what age is a good age to start riding lessons? Thanks for any info.

I began riding when I was 7, I have been doing it now for 20 yrs. It becomes part of your life. But be prepared for your child wanting his/her own horse, and they aren't cheap!

I have some younger children here for lessons. Two are now 6, but stared as 5 y/o's. I don't offer lessons to children younger than 5, because of motor skills, comprehension and attention span. My daughter did start at 3 1/2, but she is exceptional.

Your daughter can outride most adults I know. She is an awesome indiviual!

Skye3blue does a great job of teaching and training. Definately check her place out!

Thank you Belinda for your kind words. Mrs. Jones daughter has been with me for several months and doing very well. She competed in her first horsehow/gymkhana last month. Her mom was surprised that she won so many ribbons, but I knew she would do it!!
