Alert | I'm a harp player. I'm thinkin' it would be great to meet some other Blues musicians in Maricopa to jam with. My intrest runs the full gamet of the Blues, Delta; Piedmont; Texas; Louisiana swamp stuff; Chicago Blues. Stevie Ray is not necessarily a 'God' in my Blues experience, he was just one of many very talented "bluesmen". So, if you want to get together to play some Blues, well, speak up. If you are an SRV 'wannabe', nope, that doesn't work.

I jam Soprano and Alto... I have a great ear! | | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!! Alert | So, have you started jamming yet? (God, that sounds so bad, but you know what I mean!) Are you open to observers? (man, that sounds even worse. I hope Cholo doesn't read this!)

Doesn't seem to be much interest for any jams out here in the 'Copa'. Wednesdays I sit in with Freddie Duran over at Teakwood's, not a lot of blues, but I get some play time in. Went to a Jam last night, at Smokie's Grill, in Mesa. Had a great time playin' blues... Startin' next Sunday there'll be a jam startin' up at Chuy's, in Tempe, 1831 E Baseline Rd. Either way come and check out the music at Teakwoods, 8-11 PM, on a Wednesday. Or check out Chuy's on Sunday, 4-8 PM, startin' 11/02/2008.

Alert | I'd be interested in getting a jam put together, I just moved here a week ago. Only problem is I'd have to wait a month to start, I've currently got a broken thumb... Let me know...

Alert | "I play guitar, I'm not gonna tell you I'm really good or anything, been playing about 5 years. I enjoy quite a few of the older guys, T-bone Walker, Hooker, etc.... And at risk of pissing everyone off, I like listening to SRV, but can't play like him "
Sounds good to me. I've been playin' my harps for a long time, I'm still learnin' though. My thing with Stevie Ray "wannabe's" pertains to those guitarists who only look as far as Stevie Ray for their blues inspiration. The wannabe's don't have a clue about playin' with others, they want to be the 'guitar god' and play all over their bandmates. The fact that you can speak of T-Bone Walker says good things to me. T-Bone was hammin' it up on stage, playin' his guitar behind his head, playin' with his teeth, long before Hendrix came onto the scene. T-Bone Walker was a main inspiration for BB King. Too many people think that Syevie Ray is 'THE' blues, well, he wasn't, he isn't. Talented as he was, he knew where his blues came from. My blues come from a lot of bluesmen, I've somehow managed to get my own style with the harp,............FINALLY. A suggestion, if ya wanna play the blues, learn the blues, beyond the strings on your guitar. Where they come from, why they exist, why they continue. Your mileage may vary, but only when I learned about the blues, beyond the music, did I progress as a musician.
I don't play professionally, I play my harps everyday, yet the day job keeps the bills paid, and the food on the table. My wife and I live in Province, nope, we aint 'spring chickens', though we sure as hell ain't old...
Keep in touch, maybe we ought to get together over a beer or two and play some tunes.

Alert | | I don't play anything, but I love to listen. I would be happy to supply the adult beverages for those of you with talent if I can sit back and enjoy the sounds. | | Not all left handed people are smart, but all smart people are left handed.
